Everyone always says that you cant judge a book by its cover. Well, its the same for blogs. I think that the best way to get a blog read is to give it an interesting name. For example, if all I had to go on was a blogs name, I would much rather read the one called SharkJumping than the blog called Jeremy Zawodny’s blog. The problem with this is that a cool name is no guarantee of good content vice-versa. Take our blog for example. Ewsnewmedia is not the most exciting blog name; however, I think that all of the content on our blog is pretty good. This is one of the problems in the blogosphere. There are tons of good blogs out there that never get read because their names are not interesting. That is why I think that you should never decide whether or not to read a blog just by its name because the name doesn’t really mean anything.

Writers Block
I can not think of anything to write about. This usually happens to me when I begin to think about my weekly blog. I usually spend the entire week looking for my topic, and when I finally find something, I get a sort of ephiphenic moment because I have finally found what I want to write about. Although I was against blogging at the beginning of the year, I have actually started to enjoy doing it.
However, this week I can not think of a topic. It might be because I have been exceptionally busy this week or just because I have not been looking hard enough, but I have not been able to think of anything to write. The problem is that I still have to write my weekly blog. I think that this is the problem with having a required blog every week. Sometimes, there is a week when someone just can’t think of something to blog about, but they still need to do it. This leads to them scrambling to think of something last minute, and then writing a blog that is not their best work. For this reason, I think our weekly blog requirement should be relaxed a little. I think that we should be able to skip a week every now and then, as long as it does not become a regular occurance, especially now when everyone is so stressed. This would greatly help everyone in the class.

Presidential debate
Last weekend, I watched the Presidential debate. The next time I was on my google reader, I began to look through the blogs that I had subscribed to and I noticed a lot of blogs about the debate. It was pretty amazing to see how many people were blogging about the debate while it was still going on or just seconds after it. Some people were discussing who they thought was the winner; however, most of the blogs were about mistakes that the candidates made. These blogs were being added at a pretty amazing rate. People were discussing every moment when a candidate said something that was not true, or that did not fit with the things that they had already said. Apparently the candidates made a lot of mistakes because the blogs just kept going. The blogs made analyzing the debate much easier because all of the candidates mistakes were laid out right in front of me. Rather than having to wait to see what a biased news stations has to say, I could just read these blogs.
